January 19, 2003Elizabeth M. "Betty" Boyington, 91, of Luther Manor, Dubuque, formerly of rural Riceville, Iowa, died Saturday morning, Jan. 18, 2003, at Luther Manor. Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Carson & Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa, where friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday. Burial will be Tuesday in the Galt (Iowa) Cemetery.
DUBUQUE - Elizabeth M. "Betty" Boyington, 91, of Luther Manor in Dubuque and formerly of rural Riceville, died Saturday morning (Jan. 18, 2003) at Luther Manor. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services, 318 W. Pleasant St., Maquoketa, with the Rev. Clair Odell of First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa officiating. Burial will be Tuesday in the Galt, Iowa, Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home
Elizabeth M. "Betty" Boyington was born July 6, 1911, in Kentucky to Phlander Lamberson and Nancy (King) Lamberson. She was a graduate of Iowa Falls High School and then worked as a nanny in Mason City for ten years prior to marriage. She married Hugh Boyington on March 15, 1939, in Nashua. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1983. Mrs. Boyington was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in the Dows and Riceville area for many years. She had been a member of the Riceville Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Olive (Mrs. James) Anderton of Maquoketa; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mary Lee (Mrs. Elmer) Wilting of Winchester, Kan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Claude, in 1990, and four brothers.
An Elizabeth M. "Betty" Boyington Memorial Fund has been established. Carson & Son Funeral and Cremation Service.
