Jesse R. Huddle, 88, of 275 E. Carl Sandburg Drive, Galesburg, Illinois died at 4:50 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 1997, in Marigold Health Care Center. Born Jan. 7, 1909, in Galt, Iowa, to Jesse and Anna Beery Huddle, he married Kathryn Lacey on April 20, 1934, in Johnson City. She died June 12, 1982. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and a grandchild. Surviving are two sons, Robert of Galesburg and David of Knoxville; one daughter, Mrs. Walter (Martha) Hallstrom of Galesburg; four sisters, Mary Vivian LeClair of Foxboro, Mass., Lois Kennedy of LaPalma, Calif., Ruth McCulley of Torrance, Calif., and Ann Herrick of Fort Collins, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He graduated from high school in Wapello, Iowa, and from Quincy Business School. He was employed as an assistant traffic manager at Butler Manufacturing Co. for more than 25 years, retiring in 1975. He was a life-long member of Gideons International. He was a member of the Galesburg Rescue Mission board of directors. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Wayland Stewart will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to his church or Gideons International.
