Mary J. Edvenson, 78, of Mitchellville, a former Webster City resident, died Saturday, September 3, 2005 at the Mitchellvillage Care Center at Mitchellville. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster Funeral & Cremation Center in Webster City, with Pastor Jean Beckwith officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday until service time at the funeral home. Mary Jeanne Claude, daughter of Victor and Bertha Hisler Claude, was born November 11, 1926 at Woolstock, Iowa. She received her education in Webster City and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944. She also received her nursing degree from Mercy Nursing College at Fort Dodge. On April 17, 1949, she married Harold Allen Edvenson at the Church Of Christ in Webster City, where the couple resided. Mrs. Edvenson had worked for over 26 years as a nurse at Dr. Patterson's Office in Webster City, and had also worked for 21 years at Des Moines General Hospital. Mr. Edvenson died on February 7, 1971. She had been residing at Mitchellvillage since September of 2002. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Lyle Harp of Iowa City, Kay and Steven Schnackel of Des Moines; sons, Bruce and wife, Brenda Edvenson of Runnels, James Edvenson and fiancee, Linda McCarl of Des Moines; nine grandchildren; brother, Victor and wife, Carol Claude of Woolstock and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Harold, she was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, Diane Sue Edvenson; her parents; brothers, Gerald and Edward Claude and two sisters in infancy. Mrs. Edvenson was a member of the Church of Christ in Webster City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
