Flavia Bachel, 86, of the Madrid Home and formerly of Eagle Grove and Ankeny, died Monday, March 28, 2005. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, with visitation one hour prior, at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Church in Ankeny. Burial of cremains will be in Eagle Grove at a later date. Flavia was born in Woolstock, IA, on May 26, 1918 to Albert and Susan Risch Caquelin. She married Oscar Mathew Bachel on October 23, 1943. From that union, one daughter, Susan, was born. Flavia retired after 22 years at M & M Livestock Products Company and moved from Eagle Grove to Ankeny in 1981. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Roupe and son-in-law, Dennis of Ankeny; and granddaughters, Katie Roupe of Ankeny and Amy Seller, her husband Sam and great-grandson, Gavin of Crystal, MN. She is also survived by a stepson, three nieces, a nephew and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a stepson and five siblings. The family would like to thank the staff at Ballard Creek in Huxley and the Madrid Home for the loving, tender care given to Flavia the past six and a half years. Memorials may be directed to Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Church in Ankeny or Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity, PO Box 716, Des Moines, IA 50303.
