November 7, 2003Services for Richard C. "Pops" Schaumburg Sr., 77, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Schaumburg died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at his home. He was born June 23, 1926, in Clarion, Iowa, the son of William A. and Louise J. (Loux) Schaumburg. He graduated from Clarion High School. He moved to Kansas in 1959 and attended Kansas City Vo-Tech School, where he studied auto mechanics. Mr. Schaumburg was a crop and dairy farmer in the Clarion and Woolstock areas in Iowa. He worked for several auto dealers and retired from Jack Ellena in 1988 after 20 years of service. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and had been a member of the Eagles Lodge for more than 40 years. He married Frances Stroschoen in 1947. She and an infant son died in a car accident in 1952. He married Betty Mallison in 1953. She died in 1981. A granddaughter also died earlier. Survivors include four sons, Richard Jr., Joseph, Timothy, all of Lawrence, and David, Louisburg; three daughters, Linda Patterson, Punta Gorda, Fla., Pam Willits, McLouth, and Mary McClelland, Lawrence; a brother, LeRoy, Clarion, Iowa; two sisters, Marie Christian and Georgene Breiner, both of Webster City, Iowa; 23 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after noon Sunday at Lawrence Funeral Chapel, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. The family suggests memorials to the church.
