Leona Mary Rodemeyer, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died at home Wednesday, April 9, 2003, after a sudden illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Bill Harnish. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Survivors include her husband, Ron; a daughter, Rona Lea (William) Wyant of Marengo; two sons, Mark (Leslie) Rodemeyer of Cedar Rapids and John (Sanda) of Anaheim, Calif.; six grandchildren, Cassie (Zach) Bott, Levi Wyant, Bret Wyant, Lucas Nielsen, Blake Rodemeyer and Nicole (Chad) Slattery; and two great-grandchildren, Austin and Keegan Slattery. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leonard Brandt; and twin sons, David and Dennis.

Born July 17, 1932, in Woolstock, to Englehart and Ada Hillpiper Brandt, she married Ronald Dean Rodemeyer at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on April 17, 1953. Their 50th anniversary was to be celebrated April 17. She worked in retail at Armstrong's for over 10 years, retiring in 1989. During Leona's retirement, she devoted energy, enthusiasm and support for the Elks Lodge. Her smile and hugs will be greatly missed. Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
