Edna Mae Brown, 88, of Ames died at Brickford Cottage on September 10, 2004. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15 at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Ames Municipal Cemetery. Edna Mae was a born on May 23, 1916 in Goldfield, Iowa to Ellis and Lulu (Classen) McCurry. Carl Brown and Edna Mae were married on June, 9, 1940 in Goldfield. She lived in Ames since 1952, and lived previously in Pella, Marengo, and LaMars. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the State Teacher College, and she was employed as a music teacher, taught piano in Ames, and worked in technical services at the Ames Public Library for twenty-three years. Edna Mae retired in 1983. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Chapter I.V. PEO, and volunteered for the Red Cross.

Edna Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Brown; her sister, Ethel Hanson; and brother Keith McCurry. She is survived by her sons Arlyn (Angie) Brown of Mesa, AZ and James R. (Debra) Brown of West Chester, PA; and five grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 14 with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Red Cross.
