Gertrude Irene Bernier, 86, died Thursday at Garden Village. Mrs. Bernier was born in Goldfield, Iowa, moved to Kelso as a teen-ager and to the Yakima area in 1946. She worked at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital and St. Elizabeth Medical Center for a number of years. Survivors include her children, Gloria Ramirez and Betty Wagner, both of Yakima, Lorraine Gilbert of Sequim, Wash., Leo Bernier of Walla Walla, Ronald Bernier of Athena, Ore., and Karyl Pulos of Spokane; a sister, Evelyn Jackson of Yakima; 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel, with concluding service and burial following at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
