Ernest W. Baker, 74, of 407 W. North St. died at 2:46 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 1992, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Born Jan. 28, 1918, in Goldfield, Iowa, to Ora B. and Rose E. Larson Baker, he married Lois Hallbick on Sept. 25, 1949, in Warren County. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Steven of Arlington, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Suzanne) Beil of Abingdon; one half brother, Robert Riggs of Des Moines, Iowa; and three grandchildren. One half brother preceded him in death. Moving to Abingdon from Fairfield, Iowa, in 1934, he worked at Abingdon Pottery for 40 years, retiring in 1980. A Navy veteran, he was a member of Abingdon Christian Church. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Larson Funeral Home. The Rev. Raymond McLaren will officiate. Calling hours are tonight at the funeral home; the family will not be present. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery.
