June 27, 1979Dr. Della M. Mattson, 86, a Washington osteopath for more than 50 years, died of congestive heart failure Friday in a Fort Dodge, Iowa, nursing home. She had moved to Iowa in 1974. She was a native of Eagle Grove, Iowa, and a 1914 graduate of the College of Ostepathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. Dr. Mattson came to Washington and began practicing here in 1919.
She was the widow of Charles Mattson, a retired attorney with the Internal Revenue Service, who died in 1959.Dr. Mattson was an honorary life member of the American Osteopathic Association. She is survived by a son, Richard W. of Rossford, Ohio; a daughter, Helen Reintzel, of Rockville; a brother, Philip Middleton, of Culver, Ind.; five grandchildren, and 15 greatgrandchildren.
