Gertrude A. Hampton, 87, of 409 S. Harris St. died at 6:40 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 1997, at her residence. Born March 15, 1910, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Eugene and Harriett Twinan Hamrick, she married Homer F. Hampton on Dec. 22, 1929, in Pekin. He died April 6, 1983. Three grandchildren, four brothers and one sister also preceded her in death. Surviving are four daughters, Darlene Hanks of Decatur, Lois Brockett of Bellflower, Calif., Judy Swanson of Pekin and Sharon Sharp of St. Louis; 12 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was a member of Tremont Baptist Church, Tremont Baptist Women and Tremont Women's Club. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Davis Mortuary in Tremont. The Rev. J. B. Hixson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the mortuary. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.Memorials may be made to any charity.
