The funeral of John Stephen Bauman, 18, of 501 W. North St., Danvers, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at College Park Christian Church, Normal. The Rev. Brent Salm will officiate. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Danvers. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Otto-Argo Funeral Home, Danvers. He died at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday (June 8, 1999) at Sharp Memorial Hospital, San Diego, Calif., as a result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

Mr. Bauman was born May 30, 1981, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Gregory Stephen and Mary Lois Wesselink Bauman. Survivors include his parents of the North Street address in Danvers; his fiancee, Amber DeBarge, Champaign; one brother, Nicholas Bauman, at home in Danvers; two sisters, Dayna Bauman, Normal; and Kimberly Bauman, at home in Danvers; paternal grandmother, Phyllis Bauman, Eagle Grove, Iowa; and maternal grandparents, Art and Fran Wesselink, Eagle Grove.He attended College Park Christian Church, Normal, and had attended Olympia High School, Stanford.STGSN John S. Bauman enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Nov. 19, 1998. He began his basic training at Navy Recruit Training Command at Great Lakes on Nov. 30, 1998, and graduated Feb. 11, 1999. He reported to Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center on Feb. 11, 1999, and began his "A" School Training on Feb. 16, 1999. He graduated on March 26, 1999. STGSN Bauman was completing the Surface Operations Course at the time of his death.
