Jan. 17, 1908 -- Nov. 25, 2001

John Milford Nerness, 93, of Greeley Hill died Sunday at Sierra Country Home. Mr. Nerness was a native of Eagle Grove, Iowa. He lived in Greeley Hill several years; he previously lived in Portland, Ore., and Sonora 25 years. He was instrumental in developing the Sonora Community Estates housing for retired Adventists while employed by the trust department of the conference.He is survived by his wife, Ada Nerness of Sonora; children, Dr. John Nerness of Vero Beach, Fla., Dr. Hal Coulston, Bill Coulston and Dr. Judy Coulston, all of Fresno, Dr. Phil Coulston of Clayton and Carol Powers of Lansing, Mich.; and 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Seventh-day Adventist Church, Sonora.
