Earl E. Kelling, 75, of Hayward, died Wednesday, March 22, at the Hayward Area Memorial Hospital. He was born June 22,1930 in Lehigh, Iowa to Edna and John Kelling. Upon graduation from Eagle Grove High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served on Guam during the Korean War. He married Alice Blanquart on Nov. 29, 1952 in Des Moines Iowa. He completed his bachelors degree at Drake University and received his masters degree from the University of Iowa at Ames, Iowa. He was a teacher for many years at Lincoln High School in Des Moines. In 1969 the couple moved the family to Hayward, where he taught science classes at the junior high school until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed fishing, wood carving, photography, painting, gardening and being outdoors in the northland he loved. He will be deeply missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Alice; daughter Gail (Dave) Simmons of Hayward, son David (Claudia) Kelling of Jackson, Tenn., daughter Carol (Paul) Anderson of Hayward, son Craig (Linda) Kelling of Chippewea Falls, daughter Julie (Tom) McDonald of Hayward; daughter-in-law Anne Pettengil of Jonesboro, Ala.: brother Ken (Donna) Kelling of Ankeny, Iowa, brother Harold (Beverly) Kelling of Hayward, 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral: A gathering of family and friends was Friday, March 24 at the Anderson-Nathan-Koerpel Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted in Iowa at a later date. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Hayward Carnegie Library, P.O. Box 917, Hayward or to Hayward Regional Hospice, 15910W Company Lake Road, Hayward, WI 54843. Arrangements by the Anderson-Nathan-Koerpel Funeral Home.
