Mildred Runley Zick, 88, passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, due to complications from a stroke suffered Nov. 21, 2005. She was born April 17, 1917, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Christell Runley of Illinois, and Arne Seldal of Norway. Mildred was a resident of Las Vegas for 59 years. She moved to Las Vegas in 1946, as the wife of Walter F. Zick, an award winning local area architect, of Zick and Sharp Architects, who died in 1990. Mildred was a member of the Mesquite Club, the Beta Sigma Phi, Home of the Good Shepherd, Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and several local women's bridge clubs. She was an avid bridge player. She was a wonderful hostess, loved to give outstanding and memorable parties. She was socially active all her life. Mildred was famous among family and friends for the candy she made. Her license plate was "CNDYLDY" (her daughters got for her). Mildred is survived by her daughters, Karen Z. Goff and her husband, Bill of Las Vegas, and Claire Z. Walker of Henderson; and granddaughter, Carmen Shortino and her husband, Paul of Canoga Park, Calif.
