Thelma Lucille Guenther
Jan. 14, 1905 - May 22, 1996Thelma Lucille Guenther of Philomath died Wednesday at home. She was 91. She was born in Dows, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Mary (Amory) Talhelm. Her family moved to Hollywood, Calif., when she was very young and she lived most of her young life there. She graduated from Hollywood High School and received a teaching certificate from Redlands University. She was an accomplished musician and taught in private schools until she met and married Roman Guenther in 1932.They lived in Portland until moving to Philomath in 1970.She left many wonderful memories for family and friends through letters and cards expressing love, concern and encouragement. She was a devout Christian. She is survived by sons Roman Guenther of Philomath and Edward Guenther of Victoria, B.C., Canada; daughters Kishiva Leomark of Brightwood and Allegra Van of Seattle, Wash.;10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Roman in 1992.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, at College United Methodist Church in Philomath. The Rev. Jonathon Enz will officiate. Mausoleum entombment will follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens in Albany. McHenry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.The family invites all those wishing to attend a celebration of her life to join them in an informal potluck at the Guenther home at 22796 Woods Creek Road in Philomath.The family requests remembrances in her name be made to Grace Center for Adult Day Services in care of McHenry Funeral Home, 206 N.W. Fifth St., Corvallis, OR 97330.
