Frederick Christian Nielsen was born to Peter and Johanna Nielsen at Copenhagen, Denmark, August 5, 1883 and passed away at Eagle Grove, Iowa, December 18, 1945, at the age of 62 years, three months, and 18 days. At the age of 22 he came to Goldfield, Iowa, where he lived for six years. Then he moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa, where he remained until the time of his death. Mr. Nielsen was baptized in infancy in the Lutheran church in Denmark. In later years he received the Christian baptism at the Eagle Grove Baptist Church.
On December 20, 1905, he was reunited in marriage to Dorthea Elvina Sorenson. To this union was born eight children: John N. Nielsen, San Francisco, Ca.; Mrs. Harry Espevold, Kensett; Christian Andrew Nielsen, who preceded his father in death at the age of 29 while serving in the U. S. Navy; Mrs. Orville Thompson, Eagle Grove; Charles B. Nielsen, Des Moines; Mrs. Etta Collins, Woolstock; Gerald F. Nielsen, now at home; and Mrs. Maurice Welsh, Webster City. He leaves to mourn his death, one brother, Peter, in Copenhagen, Denmark, his wife, children, and several grandchildren. Mr. Nielsen was kind man, a faithful husband, and a loving father. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Kastler Funeral Home, in charge of the service, Rev. Harry Throckmorton, pastor of the Baptist Church. Music was furnished by Miss Mabeth Throckmorton and Mrs. Scott Ellsworth, accompanied by Mrs. Richard Knutson. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
