Death of Patrick Plunkett

Patrick Henry Plunkett died at his home in this city Monday March 20th at 5 P. M. During the forenoon he complained of feeling unwell and went to his bed to rest and a little later was discovered unconscious from a stoke of appoplexy from which he never rallied. He was born in Ireland about 1852. His father died there and his mother moved with him to Canada when he was 9 years of age. When eighteen years of age he came to Toledo, Ia. where he was married to Helen Elwood.

Nineteen years ago they came to Eagle Grove when Mr. Pludkett (Plunkett) was foreman of the Northwestern yards and of construction gangs over the division. Later he was foreman of a section of the Great Western which position he resigned four years ago because of failing health. About two years ago he had a very sick spell and has not been in vigorous health since although always around and busy with his garden and work about his home.

He has always been a faithful Catholic and was a man of strick integrity and of the highest honor.

He is survived by his wife, six sons and one daughter. The sons are James L. of Grey Cliffe, Mont., Thos. J. of Ft. williams, Ontario, Frank R. of Santa Fee, N.M., John H., Chas. Leo, Wm. J. and the daugher Mary E. of Eagle Grove.

The funeral will be held in the Sacred Heart church Saturday morning at 10 o'clock.

The sons will serve as pall bearers.

The bereaved family has the warm sympathy of the entire community.
