Nelson – Leffler.

Tuesday noon, February fourteenth, at the home her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Leffler in Cedar Twp., occurred the marriage of Mary Myrtle Leffler to George Marius? Nelson of Goldfield, Wright County, Iowa.

Mr. Nelson was reared in Wright county on a farm nd now with his wife will go back to live near the home place. He was graduated from Iowa State College in the 1910 class in the [sic] Annual Husbandry division, being a classmate of the bride’s brother, John.

While in college he was prominent in a varied number of student activities. He was elected to membership of the Alpha Zeta fraternity, an honorary agricultural organization. He was a member of the Y.M.C.A. cabinet for some time, and was an active worker in the Y.M.C.A. extension department. In literary work he was active in the Philelentherol Society. It was during his college course he met and won the lady who now bears his name.

The bride was born and has lived her life thus far in Cedar township [Van Buren Co. IA] She is a most charming and winsome young lady and makes hosts of friends wherever she is. Three years of Domestic Science at the State College amplified her already large knowledge in household affairs, and makes her doubly fitted for the duties now devolving upon her as wife and helpmate. In religious and social circles in college she took much interest and was always ready to help where needed. She belonged to the Cliolian Literary Society.

For this eventful day she was gowned in while voile trimmed in baby Irish lace, and carried cream roses.

In the presence of twenty guests, mostly relatives, Rev. T.L. Smith of Bonaparte had charge of the simple ceremony in which these two young people pledged themselves, each to the other “until death do us part.” Miss Lucy McGohan furnished delightful music for the day.

Red and white was the color scheme in the dining room. Long festoons of crepe paper, alternating with strings of cupids and hearts arranged in a suggestive way, were suspended from the ceiling. Bouquets of red carnations with ferns and hearts , carried out the idea on the table. The bountiful four course dinner was enjoyed by all.

The best wishes of many friends go with these young people who are starting out in life together under such favorable circumstances.

After a visit with friends at West Liberty, Grinnell, and Ames, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson will be at home to their friends near Goldfield.

Relatives from a distance in attendance were, Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Nelson, parents of the groom, Goldfield, Iowa; Mr. Edward L. Nelson, brother, a student at Grinnell; Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Forman, and Robert W. Leffler of Ames.
