Hans Kelling, farmer, Section 20; Post Office Wilton; owns 280 acres of land, valued at $12,000; he was born January 28, 1841, in Holstein, Germany; came with his parents to Scott County, Iowa, in 1853; moved into Wright County, of this State, in 1856, and soon after into Hardin County; from there he enlisted in the 2d Iowa Cavalry, in 1861, and served during the war; was in both battles at Corinth, Mississippi; also in the last battle at Nashville, Tennessee; at the close of the war settled in Scott County. Married Miss A. Ludert, of Scott County, in the Fall of 1867; have six children--Caroline, Emma, Frederick, Louis, Amelia and Anna. Mr. Kelling came on his present farm in this county in the Spring of 1877. He is a Republican.
