Oliver P. Burrows, real estate, loan and insurance broker, was born at Dows, Iowa, August 26, 1871, son of Chester William and Jane (Gurney) Burrows. parents came to the United States from England in 1852.

In May, 1890, Mr. Burrows was graduated from the Dows Iowa High School, and in 1899 from the Cedar Rapids Business College at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He taught school from 1893 to 1898.

On August 14, 1907, he was married to Gertrude MacDonald at Sauk Center, Minnesota. Mrs. Burrows was born at Minneapolis, December 28, 1880. She is a member of the Eastern Star, Rebekahs, Woman's Club and the Methodist Episcopal Church, and is president of the parent Teacher's Association at Mitchell. They have three children, Donald O., born August 12, 1909; Gurney E., born January 31, 1912; and Gertrude C., born January 8, 1914. Donald O. and Gurney E. are both students of the Chadron State Normal.

For ten years Mr. Burrows was engaged in the United States Reclamation Service. He was associated with the Burlington Cedar Rapids and Northern Railway for one year, and was engaged in banking for one year.

Active in Republican politics Mr. Burrows has been justice of the peace for about 12 years and a member of the school board 16 years. He is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, the Masons, and the Odd Fellows. Residence: Mitchell.
