Delores Jean Johnson, 81, Northwood, died Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage. A funeral service for Delores was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave., South, Northwood, with Pastor Barbara Wills officiating. Burial was at the South Shell Rock Cemetery, rural Northwood. Visitation was held one hour prior to service time on Tuesday at the chapel.
Delores Jean (Hrubetz) Johnson was born on June 16, 1929, in rural Kensett, the daughter of Edward and Nina (Helgeson) Hrubetz. She was baptized and reaffirmed the faith of her baptism through confirmation at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Kensett. Delores attended school in Kensett, and graduated from Kensett High School. During her life, Delores was a home care giver for the elderly. Delores also enjoyed being a home maker on the farm in rural Northwood. Delores was united in marriage to Omer Dean Johnson on Oct. 21, 1950, at the Lutheran Parsonage in Northwood. Omer preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 2008. Delores enjoyed canning, her vegetable garden and bird watching, but her greatest love and enjoyment was her family and grandchildren. Delores was a member of First Lutheran Church in Northwood, and the Sarah Circle at the church. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Dennis (Janelle) Johnson of Northwood, Janice (Dennis) Finch of Carpenter and Bret Johnson of Northwood; five grandchildren, Aric Finch, Jay (Jaime) Johnson, Jack Johnson and his fiancé Jamie Hindley; Ben Johnson and Brock Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Jacey Finch and Sasha and Brynn Johnson; many nieces, nephews and many other extended family members and friends; and the family dog, Buddy. Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Omer; two brothers, Dale and Lee Hrubetz; and a sister, Luella Roggeman.
