Ole Ellingson
(October 24, 1819 – March 9, 1907)Obituary
Mr. Ole Ellingson, a most worthy pioneer of Silver Lake Township, died last Saturday, March 9, after a lingering illness. He was born in Hallingdahl, Norway, Oct 24, 1819. In 1848 he was united in marriage to Christi O. Instnes, who walked the ways of life with him for nearly 60 years. They emigrated to America in 1861 and after one year in Wisconsin came to Worth County, Iowa, in 1862. Here they worked hard and were prosperous. Seven boys were born to them, of whom Elling, Ole, Lars and Doedor survive, two of them living in Tennessee and two in this county. Mr. Ellingson is also survived by 36 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. His funeral was solemnized by Pastor Torgerson in the Somber church last Monday, and was largely attended by relatives and neighbors from near and far. Mr. Ellingson was a hard-working, God-fearing man, a standby in the church and a good citizen in all of life’s relations. He leaves his family in comfortable circumstances. Better still, he leaves a blessed memory. Source – Worth County Index, Northwood, Iowa, Thurs., March 14, 1907, p.5
