Burton Boomhower
(July 29, 1860 – July 13, 1907)Obituary
The whole community was deeply shocked to hear of the sudden and unexpected death of Burton Boomhower which occurred Saturday evening, July 13, 1907 [text illegible] About a week prior to death had been suffering with a sore throat but seemed to recover nicely and was up and about. On last Thursday he was in Hanlontown and seemed almost well and carried on with those he met in his usual cheerful and pleasing way. Friday night he was taken taken seriously ill and when medical aid was called Saturday and consultation held it was soon discovered that he had a most serious case of blood poison and death was close at hand. Mr. Boomhower was a little less than 47 years of age, being born in Canada, July 29, 1860. He came here many years ago and was well and favorably acquainted in the vicinity. About 20 years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Ella Kelly who with two sons to survive to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father. He also leaves one brother and a half brother. Mr. Boomhower was an exemplary man and was highly respected and admired by all who had gained his acquaintance. He will be missed by his friend and neighbors whom he always treated so considerably and friendly but most of all he will be in the home that he had devoted so much energy to make a model home. To enjoy the hospitality of the Boomhower home was always a pleasure to anyone. Funeral services took place in the home Monday July 15 and was largely attended by sorrowing friends who deeply sympathize with Mrs. Boomhower and children in their sad bereavement. Rev. Spence conducted the services and the boy was laid to rest in the Bristol Cemetery beside that of his father who had passed to eternal rest about thirty years ago. Hanlontown News.
