Manly - Mae L. Yezek, 90, of Manly, died Friday (April 6, 2001) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly with the Rev. Thomas McAndrew officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Manly.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday with a public scripture'rosary service at 6 p.m. at the Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E. Spring St. in Manly.
The family of Mae L. Yezek has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly or to the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City in her memory.
Mae L. Yezek was born on May 1, 1910, in Plymouth, the daughter of Irving and Tina (Arendts) Helmer. She attended and received her education in the Plymouth school system, graduating from Plymouth High School.
She was united in marriage to Joseph Yezek on Aug.19, 1929, in Plymouth. He preceded her in death on Aug.11, 1994. After their marriage they moved to Tacoma, Wash. before moving back to the Manly area in the 19308.
Mae traveled with her husband doing the cooking for her husband's crew, who worked for an insurance company, building farm buildings. Mae and her husband began farming in 1952 in the Manly area until their retirement in 1967, moving into Manly.
She enjoyed playing cards, flowers, gardening, bowling, crossword puzzles, working in the yard, and in her early years was a baseball player; but her great love and enjoyment was her family and grandchildren.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly, Our Lady of Victory Guild at the church, and the Manly Bridge and 500 card club.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Tom Yezek and his wife, Liz, of Prunedale, Calif., and Gary Yezek and his wife, Dianne, of Manly; four grandchildren, Steven Yezek, of Manly, Stacy Yezek, of Greene, and Alexis and Joseph Yezek, of Prunedale, Calif.; three greatgrandchildren, Zackery, Nathan and Evan Yezek; two brothers, Irving Helmer and his wife, Tillie, of Oakhurst, Calif., and LeRoy Helmer and his wife, Ginger, of Manly; a sister, Irene Boock, of Manly; as well as other relatives and many friends.
Besides her husband, Joseph Yezek, an infant daughter, Bonita Jean Yezek; and a sister, Evelyn Reinhardt, also preceded her in death.
