George A. Heiken, 74, Northwood, died Saturday, August 27, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City. Funeral services are Wednesday, August 31, at 10 a.m. at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood, with the Rev. Robert Cumings officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood. Visitation was held on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Highway 65 South, Northwood.

George was born in Eureka, Illinois, on May 20, 1930, to George B. and Ella (Wenger) Heiken. He married Reta Kingdon on July 21, 1951. They lived on a farm near Danvers, Illinois, before moving to Sumner, Iowa, in 1961 and then to Northwood in 1962. George was a crop and dairy farmer when they moved to Northwood, and owned the Hilltop House Collectible Toys for 25 years. He was a member of the Northwood United Methodist Church. George enjoyed making things for his grandchildren.

George is survived by one daughter Kathleen (James) Anderson of Fayetteville, Tennessee; one son David (Louise) Heiken of Kensett, Iowa; one brother Ron (Judy) Heiken of El Paso, Illinois; one sister-in-law Delores Heiken of Rockford, Illinois; grandchildren Adam (Sarah) Heiken, Daniel, Jeffery and Angela Heiken and Melissa, J. C. and Thomas Anderson; and special friend Rose Mary Ellingson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Reta, one brother Robert, and a brother and sister in infancy.
