Agnes Louise Reese, 96, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood. A funeral service for Agnes will be held 11 a.m. today (Wednesday), Dec. 7, 2011, at the First Lutheran Church, 309 North Ninth Street, Northwood, with Pastor Karen Rossing Grandall officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Highway 18 West, Mason City. Visitation was held from 4 until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the church.
Agnes Louise Reese was born on May 23, 1915, in Kensett, the daughter of Martin and Anna (Hildahl) Myhre. Aggie received her education in the Kensett Community School, graduating from Kensett High School. Aggie was united in marriage to Robert W.M. Reese on June 29, 1938, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. For most of her life, Aggie was a loving and caring stay-at-home mom and was a supportive wife to her husband Robert during his career as a highway patrolman. Aggie loved going to dances, sewing, crocheting, playing cards, socializing and visiting with her family and many friends. Aggie was a member of First Lutheran Church, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars ladies Auxiliary, all in Northwood. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jon (Carol) Reese of Cedar Falls, Lana Jo Reffert of Lincoln, Neb.; grandchildren, Randy (Linda) Reffert of Omaha, Neb., Ryan Reffert of Lincoln, Neb., Rod (Marci) Reffert of Lincoln, Neb., and Resa (Trini) Ortiz of Lincoln, Neb.; great-grandchildren, Julia, Shayla, Scott, Jake and Colby Reffert, and Quintin, Lia, and Calin Ortiz; her sister, Mabel (Roy) Welch of Northwood; her brother, Harry (Dorothy) Myhre of Mason City; a brother-in-law, Clifford Mourlam of Clear Lake; cousin, Edith Hanson of Northwood; as well as many other special nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends. Aggie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; brothers, Elmer, Oliver, and Stanley Myhre; her sister, Marie Mourlam; and a son-in-law, Donald P. Reffert.
