Vivian J. Carberry, 86, died Sept. 15, 2011, at Live Oaks Nursing Home, Shreveport, La.
A memorial service was held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with Pastor Steve Hansen officiating. Inurnment was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday. Memorials may be directed to the Vivian J. Carberry Memorial.
Vivian J. Patterson was born December 10, 1924, in Worth County, the daughter of Albert and Edith (Horting) Patterson. She graduated from Northwood High School. Vivian was united in marriage to Arthur Carberry on February 25, 1945, in Meltonville, Iowa; to this union two children were born.
Vivian worked as a legal secretary at DeVries and Price law offices and worked for the Area Education Agency. Vivian was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, 4-H leader, and Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed dancing, cards, needlework and coffee with friends. Vivian is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Shawn) Dorsey, Shreveport, La.; daughter-in-law Bambi Carberry, grandchildren, Jenny Carberry, Jessica (Jeremy) Low, Jason Carberry, Katie Carberry, Erin Dorsey and Meaghan Dorsey; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Grace Carberry; along with many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Vivian is preceded in death by her parents, son Dennis Carberry, husband Arthur Carberry, sister Beulah and brothers Robert, Russell and Earl.
