Dale Elmer Braun, 69, Emporia, Kansas, passed away July 23, 2011 at his home in Emporia, Kansas following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born, November 14, 1941 in Kensett, Iowa, to Lawrence & Helen (Rodemaker) Braun. He married on November 25, 1962 to Viola M. Thofson in Albert Lea, Minnesota. They were married 48 years. Mr. Braun was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He was a Masters in Heating and Air Conditioning. While living in Northwood, Iowa, he owned and operated Braun Plumbing, Heating and Cooling. He then relocated his family to Corpus Christi, Texas where he was in charge of the heating department at Spohn Hospital. Upon moving to Emporia, Dale was employed by Bob Crawford Heating and Air Conditioning for 20 years until retiring in 2007. He enjoyed reading, movies, fishing, camping and spending time outdoors. Survivors include his wife of the home; sons, Robert Braun of Ames, Iowa; Luther Braun of Topeka, Kansas and Joshua Braun of Ankeny, Iowa. Daughter, Yvette Kramer of Pocahontas, Iowa; brothers, Ray and Gary Braun both of Kensett, Iowa; sisters, Ethel Ballantyne of Mason City, Iowa and Melba Marker of Northword, Iowa; ten grandchildren, 10. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son Jared Scott Braun who died in 1990; brothers, Kenneth, Wilfred and Wayne Braun; sisters, Marcy Ritchey, Ann Nicholson, Jean Thune and Phyllis Phelps. The family will greet friends at Charter Funerals-Emporia Chapel on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 from 6:00-8:00PM. Funeral Service will be at Faith Lutheran Church, 1348 Trailridge Road, Emporia, Kansas on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 10:30AM. Pastor Mark Eichler will be officiating. Interment will be at Maplewood-Memorial Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers family suggests contributions be made to Faith Lutheran Church and sent in care of Charter Funerals, 501 W. 6th Avenue, Emporia, Kansas, 66801.
