Gene Raymond Lovik, 72, Northwood, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood. A memorial service and celebration of Gene's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, at the Lutheran Retirement Home Chapel, 701 Ninth Street North, Northwood, with Pastor Barbara Wills officiating. Inurnment will be in the Salem Memorial Cemetery, rural Lake Mills in the spring. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the Lutheran Retirement Home Chapel. Those wishing to give a memorial in Gene's name, may wish to consider memorial contributions be made to the Lutheran Retirement Home in his memory.
Gene Raymond Lovik was born on Oct. 23, 1938, in Lake Mills, the son of Eugene John and Cathryn (O'Rourke) Lovik. Gene was baptized and reaffirmed the faith of his baptism through confirmation at the Salem Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills. Gene attended and graduated from Lake Mills High School. Through out his life, Gene worked for Forester Trailers in Forest City, and also worked at a nursing home in Wisconsin and the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City. After his recovery from an automobile accident he continued to work at nursing homes, and also built cabinets in Mankato, Minnesota. Gene enjoyed antique cars and going to Bible study at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood. Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Roger J. (Carolyn) Lovik of North Mankato, Minnesota; two step-sisters, Carol Christianson and special friend Myron Speer of Carpenter, and Mary Beck of Albert Lea, Minnesota.; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ronald Lovik, and his sister, Helen Vale.
