Esther Louise Mary Gentz, 90, of Northwood, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 15, at Deer Creek Lutheran Church, rural Carpenter, with Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial was in Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood. Visitation was Sunday at Conner Colonial Chapel, Northwood. Memorials may be directed to the Esther Gentz Memorial Fund.

Esther Louise Mary Kloose was born May 16, 1915, in Grafton, the daughter of Otto and Emelia (Hanson) Kloose. Esther was baptized at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton. She attended school in the Grafton and Barton #5 country school. She moved with her family to a farm east of Lyle, MN. Esther confirmed her faith at the six Mile Grove Church. Esther was united in marriage to William Gentz on April 15, 1934, in Northwood; to this union 11 children were born. Together they joined Deer Creek Lutheran Church. With her husband she drove tractor and milked cows. Esther was a loving wife for 71 years. She loved making quilts for her children and grandchildren, flowers and houseplants, sewing, gardening; her greatest love was spending time with her family. She was a member of the Deer Creek Lutheran Church, Esther Circle, Alter Guild, and Ladies Aid.

Esther is survived by her husband William Gentz, children Delores (LaVern) Baldwin, Charles Gentz, Richard (Sharon) Gentz, Marilyn (Chuck) Holland, Gloria (David) Davidson, Rosalie (Steve) Greiman, Eugene (Marilyn) Gentz, June (Keith) Low, Robert (Cyndi) Gentz, Julie (Tom) Bock, 23 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, sisters Clara and Hazel Kloose; brother Martin Kloose; very special friends Nancy Klingfuss and Karen Emanuel, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Esther is preceded in death by her parents, son Wilbert Gentz, three brothers and one sister.
