Obituary for Wallace LaVerne Brunsvold

Wallace Brunsvold of Rochester, Minnesota, and formerly of Harmony, passed away on July 22, 2020 at Cottagewood Senior Community in Rochester at the age of 93.

Private family graveside services, including military honors will be held at Greenfield Cemetery in Harmony with Pastor Rolf Svanoe officiating.

Wallace LaVerne Brunsvold was born May 29, 1927 in Kensett, Iowa to Carl and Ida (Thoen) Brunsvold. The fourth of four children, Wally grew up on a farm near Hanlontown, Iowa. He attended Luther College in Decorah until he was inducted into the United States Army where he served as a cook in Korea.

Serving as the best man at a friend’s wedding, he fell in love with the maid of honor, Bonnie Mae Schultz, a school teacher. Wally made Bonnie his bride on July 9th 1954. Together they farmed in Hanlontown where a daughter, Karla and a son, Scott were born. In 1967, they moved to Emmons, MN and Wally began working as a cattle buyer. In 1973, they moved to Harmony, MN where they lived until 2012, when they moved to Chatfield, MN.

Wally enjoyed golfing, cooking, attending horse races and spoiling his grandchildren. He was also active in Greenfield Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council. He was also a board member of the Harmony Golf Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bonnie and his siblings; James, Elaine and Marjorie.

He is survived by a daughter, Karla (Jeff Dasen), a son, Scott (Carla) Brunsvold, grandchildren; Matthew Dasen, Katerina Dasen and Samantha Brunsvold and one great-grandchild, Sebastian Castilla.
