July 11, 1927 - August 10, 2018

NORTHWOOD, IOWA - Delores Mae (Jenkins) Fredrickson, 91, of Northwood, died Friday, August 10, 2018, at the Muse Norris Inpatient Unit- Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City.

A funeral service will be held 1:00pm Wednesday (August 15, 2018) at Conner Colonial Chapel 1008 1st Ave S., Northwood with Reverend Tom Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm on Tuesday (August 14, 2018) at the Funeral Chapel.

Delores was born on July 11, 1927, in Long Prairie, Minnesota, to McKinley and Gertrude (Ohland) Jenkins, the oldest of seven children. She grew up in Manly, graduating from Manly High School in 1945. Delores was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Northwood, where she married Irving Robert Fredrickson on November 21, 1948.

The couple made their home in Northwood, and on June 8, 1964, they were blessed with their daughter, Shari Lynn.

Delores worked at Delux in Lake Mills, IA until Shari was born, after which she became a stay at home mom and started a daycare. Delores went back to work after Shari started school, tending bar for her mother at Gertie's Place in Northwood. She worked there for 25 years. After retiring, she opened her daycare again.

Delores took care of many children and to her they were all special, but four children held a very special place in her heart and they became her “Grandchildren.”

Delores is survived by her daughter, Shari; her “Grandchildren”, McKensie and Alex Nicholson, and Matt and Courtney Hengesteg; two brothers-in-law, Orlan Brunsvold and Kenny Fredrickson; her sister-in-law, Sharon Jenkins; and many nieces, nephews, and their families and extended family, Bill and Terry Nicholson and David and Sue Hengesteg, also other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Irving, her mother and father, McKinley and Gertie Jenkins, her mother and father in law, Fred and Ella Fredrickson, her sisters, Marion Brunsvold, and Donna (Dale) Fredrickson, her brothers, Dick (Nancy) Jenkins, Wally (Barb) Jenkins, Kenny Jenkins and Delmar Jenkins, her brothers and sister-in-law, Harold (Darlene) Fredrickson, LaVerne Fredrickson, and Doris (Ray) Shir; and her nephew, Ken Ray Jenkins.
