December 8, 1975 - May 19, 2018

Funeral services for Jesse Anderson, age 42, with his son, Micah, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2018 at Bridge Community Church in Albert Lea. Rev. Clayton Balsley will officiate.

Interment will be at East Freeborn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24 at Bridge Community Church and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com .

Jesse died Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Hart Lake Township, Minnesota.

Jesse Andrew Anderson was born December 8, 1975 in Albert Lea, the son of Gene and Irene (Lindell) Anderson. He grew up in Albert Lea, graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1994. Jesse married Jennifer Long. To that union, they had one daughter, Kari Michelle. The couple later divorced.

On May 22, 1999, Jesse married Rita Renae Becker on the farm where Jesse grew up. Together, they had five children, Hannah, Lane, Isaiah, Malachi, and Micah. Jesse held many jobs over the years, developing many skills and friendships. He enjoyed being a self-employed contractor.

Jesse loved to work and loved to relax. He enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking, deer hunting, and fishing. Jesse was a wonderful husband, dad, and grandpa to Andi; always at any activity they were involved in. He was always ready to help anyone with anything. Jesse was a member of Bridge Community Church. He loved Jesus and his time with the men's group.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Rita; children, Kari, Hannah, Lane, Isaiah, and Malachi; granddaughter, Andi Riles; parents, Irene and Gene Anderson; mother and father-in-law, Judy and Jim Becker; brother, Andy (Nyna) Anderson; sister, Tammy (John) Krowiorz; sister-in-law, Shannan (Dave) VanHooser; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jesse was preceded in death by his son, Micah; and grandparents, Clarence and Arvilla Anderson, and Norman and Bernadine Lindell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Guatemalan Missionaries through Bridge Community Church.

Micah died Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the University of Minnesota Children's Masonic Hospital.

Micah Gene Anderson was born December 3, 2013 in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Jesse and Rita (Becker) Anderson. He lived with his family in Northwood. Micah loved the cartoons “P.J. Masks”, “Ranger Rob”, and “Paw Patrol.” He told everyone he loved them and gave many hugs. Micah enjoyed fishing with Grandpa Jim and riding on the tractor with Grandpa Gene. He loved having pancakes (or cookies) every day for breakfast, his blanket, and playing outside. Micah collected anything he could and would “stash” them in his bedroom.

Micah is survived by his mother, Rita; siblings, Kari, Hannah, Lane, Isaiah, and Malachi; grandparents, Irene and Gene Anderson and Judy and Jim Becker; aunts and uncles, Shannan and Dave VanHooser, Andy and Nyna Anderson, Tammy and John Krowiorz; cousins: Dean, Cassie and Lee VanHooser, Christopher and Aurora Anderson, A.J. and Ashley Krowiorz; and niece, Andi Riles.

Micah was preceded in death by his father, Jesse.

Father, 4-year-old son,
die in kayaking accident
on Hart Lake in northern
Minnesota

It happened on Hart Lake, southeast of Bemidji.

A father and son have died after their kayak overturned on Hart Lake in northern Minnesota on Saturday.

According to the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office, 42-year-old Jesse Anderson of Northwood, Iowa and his 4-year-old son were kayaking on Hart Lake, near Bemidji when their kayak overturned, sending both into the water.

Witnesses called 911 after neither resurfaced and a search for the duo began just after 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The 4 year old, identified as Micah by family members on Facebook, was found shortly after the search began.

Northwood father and son die in Minnesota accident
A father and his young son from the northern Iowa town of Northwood are dead after a kayaking accident over the weekend in northern Minnesota.
Hubbard County sheriff’s officials say they were called to Hart Lake near Bemidji at about 1:30 Saturday afternoon after the report of an overturned kayak with two people that failed to surface. Emergency officials found four-year-old Micah Anderson in the water and administered CPR. He was flown to a hospital on the University of Minnesota campus, with Sheriff Cory Aukes saying the child was removed from life support Sunday night.

Searchers found the body of Micah’s father, 42-year-old Jesse Anderson, in the water on Sunday morning. Aukes says neither the boy nor his father were wearing life jackets while in the kayak.
