December 3, 1935 - July 26, 2017

Joice, Iowa - Curtis Arne Arneson, 81, of Joice, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at his home surrounded by family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be 11 AM, Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 201 Franke Street, Joice, IA 50446, with Pastor Randy Baldwin and Rev. Don Niederfrank officiating.

A Memorial Visitation will be 4-6 PM, Friday evening at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, IA 50450, and again one hour prior to the service at the church.

Inurnment will take place at Concordia Cemetery, Joice, Iowa.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, Bethany Lutheran Church or Concordia Cemetery.

He was born December 3, 1935, in Devils Lake, North Dakota, the son of the late Margaret (Kirkeby) and Arnold Arneson. He was the second of three children.

On October 23, 1955 he was united in marriage to Hope Darlene Nelson at Asbury Methodist Church in Lake Mills, IA. She passed away May 31, 1969.

On June 5, 1970. He was united in marriage to Dilla Kae (Niederfrank) Kabrick at Bethany Lutheran Church in Joice, IA.

He graduated from Joice High School in 1953. He farmed for two years then worked as a tool and die makeresigner for twenty years before returning home to farm in 1975 when his dad, Arnold, retired. He continued farming in the Joice area until his retirement in 1998 when his son, Doug, took over the family farm.

He served with the U.S. Army reserves, in the transportation division, for four years.

Curtis enjoyed spending time with family, drinking coffee at the farm, playing cribbage, Texas hold'em and bridge, watching the western channel and, after retirement, spending the winters in McAllen, TX.

He is survived by: his wife, Dilla Kae Arneson of Joice, IA; his children; son and daughter-in-law David and Rebecca Arneson of Joice, IA; daughter Debra Lopez of Joice, IA.; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Mark Hoeft, Forest City, IA; son and daughter-in-law Scott and Cheri Arneson, Coralville, IA; son Donald Arneson, St Cloud, MN; son and daughter-in-law Douglas and Donica Arneson, Joice, IA; son and daughter-in-law Timothy and Dr. Rebecca Arneson, Yorktown, VA; grandchildren and great grandchildren: David's family - Bill and Kim Arneson (Brody and Bella) of Land O Lakes, FL; Kimberly and Brian Marshall (Lydia and Everett) of North Liberty, IA; Danielle Appel of Minneapolis, MN, Dr. Anthony Appel of Elk Point, SD, Drew Appel of Burnsville, MN; Debra's family - Christopher and Melissa Izzett (Ashley) of San Antonio, TX, Nicholas Phillips (Delilah and Emmalyn) of Fort Stewart, GA, Zachary Lopez of Joice, IA; Susan's family - Matt and Jennifer Hoeft (Elexis and Audrey) of Garner, IA; Jesse Hoeft of Forest City, IA; Scott's family - Kelsey and Derek Montross (Madison, Cassidy and Kinnick) of North Liberty, IA; Cody Arneson of Austin, MN; Lonie and Will Eggert (Rhett) of Cedar Rapids, IA; Adam Crossett of Coralville, IA; Donald's family – Harley Arneson of Green Isle, MN; Doug's family – Samantha and Mike Petersburg (Emma and Jackson) of Joice, IA; Charles Arneson of Camp Lejeune, NC; Tim's family – Evan Arneson of Lexington, KY; Alaina Arneson of Yorktown, VA, Eric Arneson of Yorktown, VA. His siblings: sister Clarice Hagen of Northwood, IA; sister Carol Luecht of Sheffield, IA; brother-in-law Donald and Susan Niederfrank of Port Washington, WI; along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hope, brothers-in-law Harold Hagen and Marlyn Luecht and mother-in-law Velva Niederfrank.
