Thelma Senora Brunsvold

December 9, 1917 - June 8, 2017

Thelma Senora Brunsvold age 99 of Lake Mills, died Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the Lake Mills Care Center of complications of dementia.

A memorial service for Senora will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main in Lake Mills, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating.

Burial will be at a later date at Elk Creek Lutheran Cemetery, rural Kensett, Iowa.

Visitation will be at Mittelstadt Funeral Home one hour prior to service time.

Thelma Senora (Sanvik) Brunsvold was born December 9, 1917, in rural Silver Lake Township, the daughter of George and Minnie (Sunsvold) Sanvik. Senora was baptized and confirmed at Silver Lake Lutheran Church. She received her education at country school in rural Silver Lake Township. She was united in marriage to Eldon Brunsvold and to this marriage, one daughter was born, Donna, on March 8, 1939.

Senora was a hard worker. She took great pride in the appearance of her home and the quality of her cooking. As a farmwife, she spent her days preparing food for the men and tending her vegetable and flower gardens. She worked for many years at Deluxe, later known as Fleetguard, retiring in on July 1, 1980. Senora was a member of Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Kensett, and attended worship service for many years at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. She was very active in circle and Ladies Aid, now known as WELCA. In November, 2009, Senora entered the Lake Mills Care Center and it became her new home.

Survivors include two grandsons, Kevin Chose and Jeff & Sheila Chose; three great granddaughters, Taylor, Krystal (Adam) and Abby; and many nieces and nephews.

Senora is preceded in death by her parents; husband Eldon in 1978; daughter and son-in-law Donna & Roger Chose; sisters and spouses Gilma Pyle Carey & husbands Cleo Pyle and Orville Carey, Margaret & Jimmy McQuatters, Gladys & Charles Anderson, Arlene & Raymond Alitz and Eleanor & Chester Stomley and Lorraine Sanvik in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Elk Creek Lutheran Cemetery, PO Box 38, Kensett, Iowa 50448.
