NORTHWOOD, IOWA — Louise Maxine Haugebak, 90, of Northwood, died Monday, April 4, 2016, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, at First Lutheran Church, 309 North 9th Street, Northwood, with Reverend Linda Johnson Prestholt officiating.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, rural Joice.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. on Friday at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood, and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Those wishing to give a memorial in her memory may wish to consider memorial contributions to Hospice of North Iowa, First Lutheran Church Youth Ministries, or to the charity of one’s choice.
Louise Maxine Larson was born on August 31, 1925, in Joice, the daughter of Southwick and Marjorie (Sweet) Larson. She was baptized and confirmed through her Lutheran faith.
She attended grade school in Joice, and graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1943. After attending summer school at The University of Northern Iowa she taught school for 15 years in rural schools. Louise completed her B.A. Degree at Drake University while teaching in the St. Ansgar Schools. She retired from a career she loved in 1991, after teaching 33 years in the St. Ansgar School System.
In 1945, she was united in marriage to Donald L. Reeder at Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Kensett. They were blessed with a daughter, Rebecca Sue. In 1984, she was united in marriage to Marle Haugebak, they resided on their farm west of Northwood. They took many fun filled trips with Louise’s siblings and their spouses to different parts of the U.S. and Canada.
Louise enjoyed her yard, flowers, gardening, going for walks, and her work with First Lutheran Church in Northwood.
