NORTHWOOD, IOWA - Larry Keith Torgerson, 80, Northwood, died Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at his home.
A funeral service for Larry will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015, at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. S., Northwood, with the Reverend Tom Martin of Bethany Lutheran and Elk Creek Lutheran Church of Kensett officiating. Burial will be in the Somber Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lake Mills.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the chapel.
Those wishing to give a memorial in his memory may wish to consider memorial contributions to Shell Rock Lutheran Church in Northwood.
Larry Keith Torgerson was born on Aug. 26, 1935, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, the son of Fritz and Luella (Hillman) Torgerson. Larry graduated from Northwood-Kensett Community Schools, Drake University, Harvard School of business in Cambridge, Mass., as well as Columbia University Law School, New York, NY. He had been a legal counsel for 88 banks, and served as vice president, president or chairman of number of organizations. Larry was a world traveler and had specialized in private investment strategies.
Larry had been named to “Who’s Who in the World." This honor is received by very few individuals throughout the world and is only given for those who have demonstrated superior personal achievements. His other honors include Outstanding Young Men of America, MENSA – top two percent in I.Q., National Collegiate Who’s Who, and Who’s Who in the Midwest several times.
Larry loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting, and his Chevrolet Corvette cars.
Survivors would include many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister who died in infancy, Wauneta Torgerson.
