Gunder Knudsen Erikson was born June 28, 1861 at Rollag, Buskerud, Norway to Knud Eriksen and Joran Gundersdatter, the fourth of their seven children. He was baptized on July 15, 1861 at same.

Birth/baptismal record found in the Norwegian Digital Archives on line for Rollag in Buskerud, Norway 1860-1874, pg 11, entry #27.

He emigrated to Iowa with his parents in March of 1866. Emigration record at Norwegian Digital Archives 1860-1874, pg 228, entries #9 - 14: #9: Joran Gundersdatter age 37; #10: Kjerstie age 18; #11: Lise age 11; #12: Bergithe age 8; #13:Gunder age 5; #14: Joran age 1. Spouse, Knud on pg 227, entry #8.

The family first came to near St Ansgar, Mitchell County, Iowa but soon moved to Worth Co, Iowa.

Gunder married Bertha Sage about 1882 at Iowa. The couple had 5 children: Liv, Clara, John, George and Carl.

1880: Jane Erickson, widowed, age 51, born Norway, keeping house; Gunder, son, age 19, born 1861 Norway, works on farm; Jane (Joran) age 15 born 1865 Norway; Julia age 12, born 1868 Iowa; Anna age 8 born 1872 Iowa, Belle Halvorson, daughter, age 21, born 1859 Norway, married, keeps house; Clara Halvorson, Belle's daughter age 1, born 1879 Iowa.

1895: Gunder Erikson 34, born Norway, wife Betsey 39, born Wisconsin, Liv age 11 born Worth, IA; Clara age 9 born Worth, IA.

Found in the 1905 & 1910 censuses at Shell Rock, Freeborn, Minnesota:
1910: Gunder Erickson 49, Betsey Erickson 54, Brithe Erickson 21, John Erickson 17, George Erickson 16, Carl Erickson 13.

Gunder died October 13, 1913 at Shell Rock, Freeborn, Minnesota and is buried at the Silver Lake Lutheran Cemetery, Worth, Iowa.
