Obituary for Mr. James Clark Heckroth
James Clark Heckroth, 71, Northwood, died Sunday, May 04, 2014, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
A celebration of life service for James will be held from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Thursday, May 8, 2014, at the United Church of Christ, 9204 University Avenue, Cedar Falls, Iowa. Inurnment will be in the Buckingham Cemetery in Traer, Iowa.
According to his wishes, cremation has been accorded.
Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood, is in charge of the local arrangements.
James Clark Heckroth was born May 27, 1942, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Glen and Margaret (Clark) Heckroth. James attended and graduated from Teachers College High School in Cedar Falls. He was united in marriage to Marilyn (Herzog) Cirksena. He was united in marriage to Mary Lynn Biggs. He was united in marriage to Judy Carrison, February 24, 1996, in Las Vegas, NV.
James worked for 25 years in the gaming business in Las Vegas, NV, spending the last 14 years at the Rio Hotel and Casino. James and Judy moved to Northwood in 2012, and he worked at Fallgatters Grocery Store in Northwood.
James was an avid sportsman, champion trap shooter and was inducted into the Nevada Trapshooting Hall of Fame in 2002. James was also the assistant trapshooting coach for Northwood-Kensett High School.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy Heckroth of Northwood; two children, Jeff (Leah) Heckroth of Grimes, Iowa, and Kimberly (Troy) Zimmerman of Emmetsburg, Iowa; five grandchildren, Stephanie Heckroth, Renee (Gunnar) Klyn, Emily Heckroth, and Paige (Tyler) Schmeling all of Grimes, and Lauren Zimmerman of Emmetsburg; his sisters, JoAnn Jansen of Santee, CA, and Carol (Jerry) Smith of Cedar Falls; his brothers, Ron Heckroth of Janesville, and Don (Louise) Heckroth of Cedar Falls; six nephews, one niece; as well as many other extended family members and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents; and one son who died in infancy, Britt Heckroth.
