OF GRAFTON DIEDFerdinand August Hackbart, 86, died at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage, Iowa, on August 13, 1971. He had been in failing health the past year, and died of a heart attack. He was hospitalized twice in recent weeks.
Funeral services were held on August 17, 1971, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton. Burial was in the Grafton cemetery, and C.R. Champion and Sons made the arrangements.
Ferdinand August Hackbart was born on May 31, 1885 in Union township, Worth County, Iowa, to Ferdinand and Bertha Ruechel Hackbart. He was baptized on June 14, 1885 by Rev. Buehrer at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton, and was confirmed on April 8, 1900, by Rev. Landdeck, at the same church.
He was married to Caroline Viergutz on October 20, 1907, at Grafton, by Rev. Landdeck. They farmed southeast of Grafton until they retired and moved into Grafton in 1967.
Survivors include three daughters: Miss Irene Hackbart, at home, Mrs. Oscar (Bertha) Tesch, also of Grafton, and Mrs. Clayton (Elaine) Brockway of Greene; three sons: Arnold, Norbert and Elroy of Manly; one sister, Miss Emma Hackbart, a resident of the Osage Nursing Home; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two sisters and four brothers.
