Funeral services for James Michael Kamish were held Saturday, January 7, at the Bride Colonial Chapel in Manly, with the Rev. William Arquitt of Manly’s Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating.
Mr. Kamish died January 4, 1995, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East in Mason City. He was 45.
The Edward Tosel American Legion Post #110 of Manly was in charge of military rites at the funeral services. Marolyn Brodersen was organist, with Laurie Olson soloist. Pallbearers were Mike Oppman, Roger Graham, Tom Henaman, Bob Graham, Lyle Hanson and Jake Jackson. The body was cremated following services.
James Kamish was born July 7, 1948, in Mason City, the son of Eddie and Harriet (Popp) Kamish. He received his education in the Manly School System, graduating from Manly High School in 1967.
After school, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the 5th Marine Infantry Division’s Fox Company in Vietnam. After his discharge, he began working for the Motor Inn car dealership in Albert Lea, MN and Winnebago Industries in Forest City. For the last 10 years he was a carpenter for Petersen Builders in Mason City.
He was united in marriage to Connie Cory on May 6, 1972, in Northwood.
Mr. Kamish was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and enjoyed carpentry, gardening, and being with family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Connie, and sons Chad and wife Traci, Matthew, Lucas and Elijah, all of Manly; his father, Eddie, of St. Paul, MN; a sister, Eunice (“Sis”) Rinnels, also of St Paul; four brothers and their spouses, Richard and Kay of St. Paul, Gary and Bunny of Cottage Grove, MN, Bob Kamish of Albert Lea, and Joe and Wendy Winklebauer of Lake Mills; along with two grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a niece.
Mr. Kamish’s family has requested that memorials be made to them in his name.
