Northwood, Iowa - Ida May Roisen, 78, of Britt, Iowa, and formerly of Northwood, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
A memorial service for Ida will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at the First Lutheran Church, 309 North Ninth Street, Northwood, with Pastor Judy Converse officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
Inurnment will be held in the South Shell Rock Cemetery, rural Northwood. Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood, is in charge of the arrangements.
Ida May Roisen was born on August 5, 1934, the sixth child of Martin and Ida (Fenney) Roisen, on a farm in rural Norhwood. Ida attended school for the blind in Vinton, Iowa, and worked for 20 years as a shelter worker in Garner, and also lived at Duncan Heights, near Garner.
She was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kensett and became a member of First Lutheran Church in Northwood. Ida was a very sociable person and liked to visit with her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Benjamin (Dobbie) Roisen of Sunnyvale, Calif.; brother-in-law, Luverne Ensley of Ogden; cousins, Margaret (Glen) Bendickson of Lonsdale, Minn., Orrion (Sandra) Roisen of Albert Lea, Minn., Carol (Randolph) Clark of Sabula, Karen (John) Clayburg of Coon Rapids, Ethel (Stephen) Jordan of Orange, Calif., Allen Hauberg of Greenville, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews that include Audrey, Warren and Laurie Johnson of Kenai, Alaska, George (Ileen) Ensley of Boone, Linda (Pete) Ensley of Gosport, Ind., Robert (Annette) Ensley of Potomac Falls, Va., and Dave (Jan) Ensley of Ogden, Randolph Reece of St. Louis, Mo., Deborah (Ed) Kleinow, of Sanibel, Fla., and Richard (Carol) Reece of Salem, Ore., Rebecca (Tim) Burbary of New Baltimore, Mich., Wayne (Jackie) Roisen of Boyne City, Mich., Allen (Brenda) Roisen of Conway, Ark., Margaret (Paul) Mills of Munger, Mich., Amy (James) Ginebaugh of Noblesville, Ind., Kirsten (John) Anderson of Waterville, N.Y., Douglas Roisen of Sunnyvalle, Calif., and Patrick (Lisa) Roisen of Redwood City, Calif.; as well as many other extended family members and friends.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Sylvia Johnson, Mildred Ensley, and Agnes Reece-Reich; and two brothers, Maynard and Wilfred Roisen.
