Manly, Iowa - Leonard P. Dietrich, 95 Manly, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at the Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission, Texas.

A funeral service for Leonard will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 23, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 428 West Walnut, Manly, with Pastor Linda Johnson Prestholt officiating. Leonard was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly.

A luncheon will follow after the funeral service at the church. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Highway 18 West, Mason City. Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, at the Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 East Spring Street, Manly. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to service time on Friday at the church.

Leonard P. Dietrich was born on the farm of his parents, Carl and Anna Dietrich, on March 24, 1916, in Worth County. Leonard farmed and lived on the home place throughout his entire life. He married Evelyn Leora Moretz on March 2, 1936, in Manly. Evelyn preceded him in death on July 18, 1990.

Leonard married Lila Crooks on August 1, 1992, in Manly.

Leonard loved to spend time with his family and many friends. He especially enjoyed outdoor activities like fishing, camping and picnicking; he also loved to dance and play cards. He continued to stay active, even in recent years, in his communities both in Texas and Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Lila Dietrich of Manly; his children, Edna Ann Mostrom of Albert Lea, Minn., Lila (Charles) Frahm of Anaheim, Calif., Leo (Karen) Dietrich of Lake Villa, Ill., Helen (Alan) Halsne of Laurel, Mont., Alyce (Richard) Hugeback of Hampton, Janet Timberman of Vancouver, Wash., and Donna (James) Gerdes of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters-in-law, Donna Dietrich, Decatur, Ill., Susie Schmidgall, Morton, Ill., and Vickie Dietrich of Mason City; 29 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, a brother, Glen (Dorothy) Dietrich of Clear Lake, and a sister-in-law Clarice Dietrich, of Kensett, and many nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are Leonard's step-children, Daniel (Sandy) Tynan of Bolingbrook, Ill., Dennis (Virginia) Tynan of Charles City, Janice (Dean) Miller of Independence, and Steven (Lori) Tynan of Mason City, 11 step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Evelyn, three sons, Bob, David and Lynn Dietrich, his sisters, Edna (Philip) Dahl, Mildred (Raymond) Lee and his brother, Wayne, and sons-in-law, Marlyn Mostrom and Ted Timberman, a daughter-in-law, Gaye Dietrich.
