Viola A. Nitschke, 71, of Lamar, AR, formerly of the Grafton, Otranto and New Haven area, died Monday, November 30, 1992, at the Johnson County Regional Hospital in Clarksville, AR.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 P.M. Thursday, at Bride Colonial Chapel, Manly, with the Rev. Gregory Bjornstad of Emmanuel Luthern Church in Grafton officiating. Burial was in the Grafton Cemetery.

Viola A. Nitschke was born July 4, 1921, in Grafton, the daughter of Henry and Maria (Kruse) Wirtjes. She was united in marriage to Floyd Nitschke on March 5, 1940, in Austin, MN. Viola worked for the Hoover Hatchery in Rudd and for Winnebago Industries in Forest City until her retirement in 1971. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, bowling, fishing and camping. She was a Lutheran by faith.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd A. Nitschke, Lamar, AR; a daughter, Gloria Beyer, Russellville, AR; a son, Jerry Nitschke, Lamar, AR; a brother, Ray Wirtjes, Manly; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter.
