Mrs. J. W. Godfrey, 68, died suddenly last Saturday morning at the Godfrey farm home northwest of Northwood in Hartland township. A cerebral hemorrhage caused death, it is reported. She had arisen and prepared breakfast and when her husband returned from the morning chores at the barn he found her lifeless body in an upstairs room. Funeral services for Mrs. Godfrey were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the First Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Leo G. Wolfe. Burial was in Sunset Rest cemetery with the Conner funeral home in charge. Pallbearers were her sons, Orble and Carl Godfrey; her sons-in-law, Fred Logeman and Leslie Eilertson; and her grandsons, Westly Logeman and Robert Pixley.

On Dec. 12, 1900, she was married to J. W. Godfrey of Madrid, Iowa. They established their home in Parsons, Kansas, later moving back to Iowa. The family has lived in Worth county for the past 33 years.

Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey, all of whom, with their father, survive. The children are Mrs. Glenn Pixley, Mrs. Leslie Eilertson and Orble Godfrey, all of Northwood and vicinity; Carl Godfrey, Plymouth; Mrs. Fred Logeman, Manly; and Mrs. H. H. Godfrey, Boone. Also surviving are one sister, three brothers, 22 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Her parents, one brother and a grandson preceded her in death.

Before their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey joined the Methodist church together. She had always remained an active member and belonged to the local Methodist church at her death. She was a faithful supporter of the services of her church.
