Elsie Minnie NICHOLSON
ROCHESTER, Minn. - Elsie Nicholson, 96, of Rochester, Minn., died Tuesday (Sept. 17, 2002) at Samaritan Bethany Heights in Rochester.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton with the Rev. Wayne Ellingson and the Rev. Tom Koelln officiating. Burial will be in the Grafton Cemetery in Grafton. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Elsie Minnie Krueger was born on November 3, 1905, to Albert and Martha (Petznick) Krueger in Worth County, Iowa, the third of five children. She attended school in Worth County.
She was married to Elmer Nicholson on Jan. 13, 1926. They settled on a farm near Carpenter, later moving to a farm near Grafton. In 1957, they returned to farm in the St. Ansgar-Carpenter area until they retired from farming in 1969. They moved to St. Ansgar, where they resided until moving to Rochester in 1984.
Elsie was an active member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton until she moved to Rochester, where she joined Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
Her hobbies included crocheting for family and friends, and square dancing, which she and her husband greatly enjoyed during the months they spent at their winter home in Alamo, Texas. She was very close to her family and loved spending time with them and doing things for them.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; one infant son, Bruce, and four brothers.
Elsie is survived by two daughters, Irene Koster and Darlene (Ted) Clikeman, both of Rochester; one son, Duane (Carolynn) Nicholson, of Baudette, Minn.; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar is in charge of arrangements.
