Lester Everett GULLICKSON

NORTHWOOD, IOWA - Lester E. Gullickson, 91, of Northwood, died Wednesday (Aug. 15, 2001) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

His funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the First Lutheran Church in Northwood, with the Rev. Allan Stoa officating. Burial will be at Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Highway 65 South in Northwood. Visitation will continue one hour before services on Saturday at the church.

Lester Everett Gullickson, son of Malcolm and Minnie (Abraham) Gullickson, was born April 3, 1910, on the Gullickson Century Farm where his father and grandfather also farmed. Lester farmed the land until 1974 and lived on the same farm all of his life.

He was baptized at the South Shell Rock Church and confirmed at the North Shell Rock Church by the Rev. Carl Ylirsaker. He attended country school in Grove Township and Northwood High School.

He married Irene Hagen on Dec. 17, 1933. They had two children, Delores Ida Nelson, who died on April 28, 1989, and Kenneth Lester Gullickson. He enjoyed fishing, taking care of his lawn and, most of all, his family.

He is survived by his wife, Irene, of Northwood; one son, Kenneth Gullickson, of St. Peters, Mo.; three grandchildren, Daniel Kell, of Marshalltown, Vickie Neuzil, of Lakeville, Minn., and Diana Kirschbaum, of Savage, Minn.; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Neuzil, Briana Neuzil, Dillon Kirschbaum, and Colton Kirschbaum.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Delores Ida Nelson; and one sister, Myrtle Gullickson.
