Fred G. Pike 1870-1951

RITES SATURDAY FOR MELTONVILLE FARMER

Meltonville – Funeral services for Fred G. Pike, 81, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the home of his son, George Pike, and at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church in St. Ansgar. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery. The Rev. Howard Root of Otranto will officiate. He died Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. Pike was born in England June 27, 1870, and came to the United States with his parents when he was a small child. He lived on the same farm in Deer Creek township 2 ½ miles northwest of Meltonville all his life.

Besides his son, he leaves two daughters; Mrs. Luellyn Gordon; and Mrs. Emil Hansen, all in the Meltonville community.

There are five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eddie of St Ansgar and Walter of Otranto, and two sisters; Mrs. Mel Finch of Carpenter and Mrs. Kate Pace of Austin, Minnesota.

Fred George Pike was the son of Edwin and Diana (Sumption) Pike. He married Mary Elizabeth Nixon, the daughter of William Nixon. She died in 1899.
