EDNA MAE PEDERSON
FERTILE - Edna Mae Pederson, 91, of Fertile, died Tuesday (Dec. 7, 1999) at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Fertile Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Roger Kampstra officiating. Burial will be in Brush Point Cemetery in Fertile.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., Forest City.
Edna Mae Nelson Pederson was born on a farm near Clear Lake, Iowa, on Feb. 10, 1908, the daughter of George and Agnes (Rasmussen) Nelson. She attended rural school near her home and graduated from Fertile High School.
She married Selmer Pederson on Jan. 27, 1929, in Fertile. They had three sons, Roger, Duane and Herbert. The couple lived and farmed in the Fertile area their entire married lives. Selmer passed away on Sept. 11, 1991.
Edna was an active member of the Fertile Lutheran Church and the Fertile Garden Club. She loved to garden and raised many types of flowers. She also enjoyed all kinds of needlework.
Due to failing health, Edna entered the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills on Nov. 12, 1999. She died there on Dec. 7, 1999, at the age of 91 years.
She is survived by six grandchildren, Holly Pederson Yoeman and her husband, Howard, Ranae Willer and her husband, Randy, Shelly Hunter and her husband, Bill, all living in Colorado. Also, Gary Pederson and his wife, Lisa, of Bondurant, Julie Vavrik and her husband, Marv, of Clear Lake, and Randy Pederson of Fertile; 12 great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Marcheta Pederson of Fertile and Marlys Pederson of Des Moines.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Sam; a brother, Luverne Nelson; and her three sons.
